Your Mac, in your pocket.

How it works

Set up in under a minute.

Pair once at home. After that, open Reach on your iPhone and you are looking at your Mac.

Install Reach on your Mac

A small menu-bar app. Allow Screen Recording and Accessibility so your iPhone can see and control the Mac.

macOS 14 Sonoma or later

Scan the QR code

Click “Pair a device” on the Mac and point your iPhone at the code. Each iPhone gets its own key. You never type a password.

or type the 12-letter code

Use it anywhere

At home it connects over Wi-Fi in a second. Away from home it goes through the encrypted relay, on mobile data or any Wi-Fi.

Reconnects on its own

Features

Made for a phone in your hand.

Remote desktop apps were built for big screens. Reach is built around your thumb.

A real trackpad

Slide to move the pointer, tap to click, two fingers to scroll, hold to drag. The pointer moves the instant your finger does.

Keyboard when you need it

Click into a search bar, a document or a terminal on the Mac and your iPhone keyboard opens by itself. Shortcut keys sit one tap away.

From anywhere

College Wi-Fi, mobile data, a café. When you are away from home, Reach finds your Mac through its relay. No router settings.

Lid closed, still on

Close the lid and the screen switches off to save power. Your iPhone keeps seeing and controlling the Mac.

Private screen

While you work from your phone, the Mac's own screen goes dark. Nobody near it sees what you do.

Smooth video

Hardware H.264 at 30 frames a second, with quality that adjusts to your connection instead of freezing.

Leave it at home

Close the lid. Keep working.

Leave your MacBook plugged in at home with the lid shut. Reach keeps it awake and reachable, turns its screen off, and brings everything back the moment you open it.

Security

Paired once. Encrypted every time.

Reach gives someone full control of your Mac, so it is built so only your own devices can ever get in.

  • No accounts, no passwordsYour iPhone and Mac pair directly with a one-time code. There is no Reach account to leak.
  • A key for every deviceEach paired iPhone or iPad gets its own key, stored in the Keychain. Remove a device on the Mac and it is locked out at once.
  • The relay sees nothingAway from home, data passes through the relay already encrypted. It cannot see your screen or what you type.
  • Fresh keys for every sessionEach connection starts a new key exchange, so a recording of today's traffic stays unreadable tomorrow.

Questions

Good to know.

Does my Mac need to stay on?

Yes. Reach can't wake a Mac that is asleep or shut down. Leave it plugged in with Reach running; with the lid closed it uses very little power, and the screen stays off.

Do I need an account?

No. You pair your iPhone with your Mac by scanning a QR code once. Nothing to sign up for.

Which devices does it work with?

iPhone and iPad with iOS 17 or later, and Macs with macOS 14 Sonoma or later, Apple silicon or Intel.

Will it work from my college or office Wi-Fi?

Yes, with Reach Away. Your Mac and iPhone both connect out to the relay, so firewalls and routers don't get in the way.

What should I change before leaving my Mac at home?

Turn on “Open Reach when I log in”, keep the Mac plugged in, and turn off automatic macOS update installs. If FileVault is on, a Mac that restarts by itself waits for its password at the Mac before anything can run.

Is there an Android version?

Not yet. Android is planned after the iPhone launch.

Try Reach before everyone else.
